Sheng-Han Kuo, MD, FANA

Dr. Sheng-Han Kuo is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Columbia University and a physician-scientist specializing in movement disorders. He holds the H. Houston Merritt Endowed Associate Professorship, a title previously held for many years by Dr. Stanley Fahn, whose legacy he continues. This endowed position carries historical significance, as Dr. H. Houston Merritt, a founding father of modern neurology, discovered phenytoin as an anticonvulsant at Columbia University.
Dr. Kuo has published extensively in the fields of ataxia and tremor, with over 180 papers, five book chapters, and one book. He serves as Vice Chair of the Movement Disorders Special Interest Group at the American Neurological Association and is a scientific advisor for both the National Ataxia Foundation and the International Essential Tremor Foundation. He is also the Director of the Initiative for Columbia Ataxia and Tremor, an organization that unites physicians, scientists, and engineers to advance therapies for cerebellar disorders.
Dr. Kuo has received numerous awards, including the American Academy of Neurology’s Jon Stolk Award and the American Neurological Association’s Derek Denny-Brown Award.
