Imran I. Ali, MD, FAAN, FAES, FANA

Dr. Imran Ali was appointed interim Dean of the College of Medicine and Life Sciences at The University of Toledo in July 2024. He joined the faculty of the then–Medical College of Ohio in 1996. Throughout his career, he has held numerous administrative positions, most recently serving as the Clair Martig Endowed Chair of the Department of Neurology, Vice Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education, and the inaugural Chair of the Department of Medical Education.
He has also served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Dean for Medical Education, Professionalism, and Diversity, and Assistant Dean for Clinical Undergraduate Medical Education. Dr. Ali is a board-certified neurologist, certified in neurology, epilepsy, and clinical neurophysiology. Recognized nationally as an educator, he currently serves as a Director of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
He has received numerous teaching awards at the University of Toledo as well as national recognition. Dr. Ali has also served on various national committees related to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate medical education. He earned his medical degree from Aga Khan University in Pakistan and completed his residency and an epilepsy/clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. In 2022, he completed the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Council of Deans Fellowship.
