Shae Datta, MD

Dr. Shae Datta completed fellowship training focused on adult and pediatric trauma, concussion, and sports neuromedicine at the University of Florida, with special training in migraine management. Dr. Datta works as a sports neurologist and board-certified clinical assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at NYU Langone Health. She is the current co-director of the NYU Langone Concussion Center and division director of the NYU Long Island Concussion Center. She has a special interest in migraines, persistent post-concussion syndrome, vestibulo-ocular dysfunction, and the effects of integrative medicine on brain health. Her specific training allows for a variety of treatment modalities in the identification of mild traumatic brain injury and sideline concussion diagnosis. She has worked on the sidelines with NCAA teams and is familiar with treating elite Olympic and NFL athletes.
Her primary research interests include identifying predictors of concussion recovery, the gut-brain interconnection, and investigating the cognitive implications of concussion. She has been published on the topics of concussion, post-traumatic migraines, and brain health. Dr. Datta serves as chair of the American Academy of Neurology’s Sports Neurology Section and was previously elected vice chair. She is also currently an AAN media expert in the fields of concussion, migraines, and brain health, and has been an invited speaker on various media outlets on these topics. She is currently working with the program directors of all sports neurotrauma fellowships nationally to gain accreditation from the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties. Her mission is to build awareness and develop new education initiatives in the field.
