Samuel Carrell, MD, PhD

Dr. Samuel Carrell is an Assistant Professor of Neurology and the Associate Director of the Center for Inherited Myopathy Research (CIMR) at Virginia Commonwealth University. He received his MD and PhD degrees from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, then completed his neurology residency and neuromuscular fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Carrell is an expert in myotonic dystrophy and other inherited forms of muscle disease. His work has focused on the development and translation of genetic treatments for myotonic dystrophy.
