Salvatore Ssemmanda, MBChB, MMED, FCNEUROL(SA)

Dr. Salvatore Ssemmanda is a Ugandan general adult neurologist based in Kampala, Uganda and a Fellow of the College of Neurologists of South Africa where he completed his neurology specialty training at Africa’s leading University of Cape Town. He is a 2024 grant awardee of the ANA Global Neurology Research Initiative and a successful candidate of the 2025 ANA Visiting Researcher Program. He is also an awardee of the Sigo Nielsen Memorial Prize, an academic excellence award he obtained in 2019 from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. He has special interest in neuromuscular, neurocognitive, epilepsy and stroke research as well as neurology education. He has been a first author or co-author of at least five peer reviewed journal publications and is the current Secretary of the Neurology Federation of Uganda.
