Roy Strowd, MD, MEd, MS

Dr. Roy Strowd is professor of Neurology, internal medicine, and translational neuroscience and vice dean for undergraduate medical education at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Strowd received his bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Duke University and his medical degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and chief residency at Wake Forest followed by neuro-oncology and education research fellowships at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. As an educator, his mission is to inspire each student to find their passion and pursue it. Nationally, he is chair of the eLearning subcommittee for the American Academy of Neurology, former CPD Chair for the AAMC’s Southern Group on Educational Affairs (SGEA), and current chair for the SGEA. His teaching awards include recognition with the SGEA Innovation in Education Award in 2019 and the inaugural AAMC M. Brownell Anderson Award in 2020. He is a thoughtful, data-driven innovator who thrives when discovering new things. He is the inaugural editor for Neurology’s newest journal, Neurology: Education, and board member for the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.
