Dr. Laura Balcer is Professor of Neurology, Population Health and Ophthalmology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. As Vice Chair of Neurology for 12 years, she has had the extraordinary opportunity to work with a department chair and longstanding mentor. NYU Neurology has grown tremendously and has continuously maintained a culture of teamwork. Dr. Balcer received the Distinguished Educator Award and the Distinguished Faculty Mentor Award from the School of Medicine. During the past 25 years, Dr. Balcer’s team’s research has been trainee-focused; she has led numerous collaborative research projects that have developed visual outcome measures for neurologic disorders.
