Anjail Sharrief, MD, MPH, FAHA

Dr. Anjail Sharrief completed her undergraduate training at Smith College and received her medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed Neurology residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital where she served as chief resident in her final year. Following residency, Dr. Sharrief obtained a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Dr. Sharrief was recruited to Houston in 2013 to start the Stroke Transitions, Education, and Prevention (STEP) Clinical and Research Program. Her team has treated over 10,000 stroke survivors in the past 11 years and has enrolled over 1000 patients in clinical trials for stroke prevention and recovery. She is currently Professor of Neurology, Director of the STEP Program at UTHealth, and Founding Director of the National CONNECT Consortium – a multidisciplinary consortium focused on improving transitions of care and post-stroke care.
